Doing OK. Mobclix said they paid out the June payment (with March revenue) on 8/1. My March revenue was < $100, so I wasn’t expecting a payment. The July payment (with April revenue) should be going out in a few days, and I should get a payment there. We’ll see what happens.

Barnes & Noble – 4 Neil Rajah, 39 Bus Jumper, $29.66 total

Ziggy I really cannot understand the discrepancies numbers your doing and the revenue that your pulling in. I feel like those companies are giving you a bad shake, with over 200k impressions you should be making more than that. For the last month and a half I got my impressions up to around 2k average per day and I seem to have better revenue. Like you I haven’t put out any updates or anything in the last 2 maybe 3 months while I am studying some other things. I know admob has a crazy lag on payments but what about mobclix how are their payment terms?
Well, for Neil Rajah, the bulk of the impressions are from India, and the revenue per click is lower there. Neil Rajah has interstitial ads while Bus Jumper only has banner ads, that’s why even with the geographic / demographic difference, they make about the same amount of money. Actually, Neil Rajah makes more per click.
I’ve been seriously thinking about switching to Admob for some time. Mobclix recently went through some internal changes, and their payments have stalled for a few months. They took down the user forums a while back, so it’s difficult to get a sense for whether other developers are also waiting on payments or not. Based on some threads on Reddit etc., I don’t think I’m alone.
That sounds a bit shady to me to take down the forums. I personally stick to admob for banner ads as they are always at 99.8 or higher fill rate. I use leadbolt for some other ad formats. Currently I am testing a few ad types even some that some developers probably would be against like airpush, although I dont do it every day; once ever 4 days with the option to opt out and my app name in the notification so if its really a bother you can just uninstall my app.
Speaking of that. I put one of my game “Fruit Drop Blitz” up on the friday review of games with these ad formats in there

I hope to get the guys over at google to talk about it. They always say user experience should be top quality but they also want developers to make money too. I wanted to ask for your support, upvote my game onto the show, hopefully they will talk about the different ad formats; airpush, installing icons on users home screen, banners, interstitials and capture form type things.
Agreed, it is a bit shady. Of course, they had the same people who would repeatedly start threads complaining.
I tried AdMob when I first started, that was when they’d just been bought by Google, and I was getting very low fill rates. Mobclix had better fill rates back then. I suspect they would be pretty similar now.
I voted for your game. Good luck getting it reviewed. I agree, it would be interesting to get their feedback on the different ad formats.
Ziggy Thanks
I had admob for about 10 months and to be honest they always had amazing fill rates but my problem was people weren’t playing my games very long so I made little to no money but recently I put up a fan app and people really love it, they play it for like 30 minutes at a time and admob really picked up for me then. From my experience if users use ur apps for a long period admob is the best because they have high fill rates and keep serving ads also I get high ctr with good conversion from admob, I dont know if the theme the ads to the content of the app or not.
On the other hand, In that same app I also have a install shortcut type ad and in that app that ad format makes zero. So to me it seems like the people who like fan apps really enjoy looking at it but dont really click the shortcut ad format.
Now my other apps, they get great revenue from the shortcut type ads but almost zero from admob so I’d say depending on your app audience will determine what types of ad formats you use.
Casual gamers; in my opinion people who would play fan apps are best served with admob, while more hardcore gamers would be better suited with interstitials, capture forms, home screen shortcuts and stuff like that.
I have tried push ads but they get zero love from everyone but also no negative reviews either so I donno what to think about those.
just a few cents.
Hi Ziggy,
How many sessions you have on daily or weekly or monthly basis?
Thank you.
For the month of August, Neil Rajah had 45,247 sessions, while Bus Jumper had 53,993. It’s fairly uniform across the days, so you can estimate the daily and weekly numbers just by dividing.
