Bus Jumper

Get it on Google Play

I got the idea for this game while playing jumping platformers like Abduction and Doodle Jump. I wanted to do something different, and my first idea was to make the world extend horizontally instead of vertically. I had started out with a race car, but then I found this image of a yellow school bus, which reminded me of the movie Speed, and that’s how Bus Jumper was born.

Bus Jumper is a side-scrolling 2D platformer. The game world is infinite and it’s generated as you play, so you’ll never run out of platforms to jump up to (or fall down to). There is only one control – tap the screen, and your bus jumps. You must avoid silly falling obstacles like cats, hamburgers, and beach shorts. There are powerups randomly sprinkled through the world, which do things like give you a speed boost, turn your bus into a ghost so you can phase through all obstacles, and so on.

Bus Jumper uses box2d for the physics, so all of the jumps and crashes are modeled very realistically. It has the usual online leaderboards and achievements. It also has a live in-game rank display, so you can watch your global rank update in real-time as you play. Also, there are no menus – start up the app, and it drops you right into the game.
